{"id":884,"date":"2012-09-11T09:00:07","date_gmt":"2012-09-11T16:00:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/zardra.dimmet.net\/?p=884"},"modified":"2012-09-10T11:06:11","modified_gmt":"2012-09-10T18:06:11","slug":"ravellenic-games-recap","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/zardra.dimmet.net\/?p=884","title":{"rendered":"Ravellenic Games Recap"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/zardra\/7755909834\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft\" style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; margin-left: 20px; margin-right: 20px; border-width: 2px; border-color: black; border-style: solid;\" title=\"Autumn Vines Beret\" src=\"http:\/\/farm8.staticflickr.com\/7119\/7755909834_8581a5e9a1_m.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"180\" height=\"240\" \/><\/a>I really did mean to keep up-to-date on posting during the Ravellenic Games, but we know what they say about good intentions.\u00a0\u00a0I had two projects to work on during the games, and I managed to complete one.<\/p>\n<p>I worked on the <a title=\"Autumn Vines Beret\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ravelry.com\/patterns\/library\/autumn-vines-beret\">Autumn Vines Beret<\/a>\u00a0(RAV) first, and finished it in decent time.\u00a0\u00a0I would have finished it earlier if I had really committed to the process, but there were some nights I just didn\u2019t feel like knitting, which that will get me every time.\u00a0\u00a0This was a fun pattern to knit, and one I actually think I\u2019d be interested in doing again, perhaps with the yarn suggested in the pattern because I love the color (they had it at Stitches West 2012 and it was fabulous).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/zardra\/7755911762\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright\" style=\"margin-bottom: 20px; margin-right: 20px; margin-left: 20px; border-width: 2px; border-color: black; border-style: solid;\" title=\"Citron Shawl\" src=\"http:\/\/farm9.staticflickr.com\/8304\/7755911762_a60d0be34c_m.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"180\" height=\"240\" \/><\/a>My second project was the <a title=\"Citron Shawl\" href=\"http:\/\/knitty.com\/ISSUEwinter09\/PATTcitron.php\">Citron shawl<\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0I started it the morning after finishing the beret, but I only had a little more than a week to get it done.\u00a0\u00a0I actually managed to get a good deal of it done on a trip down to San Diego to take the Academy of Certified Archivists exam.\u00a0\u00a0My dad drove me, so I was able to sit in the passenger seat and knit, knit, knit.\u00a0\u00a0Of course, the problem with a shawl is always the fact that it gets bigger and bigger the further you get, and I had decided from the outset to knit 7 sections rather than the called for 5 sections (I wanted to make sure I got every color of the progression into the shawl).\u00a0\u00a0I got to the 7th section on Saturday, August 11.\u00a0\u00a0I thought I was good to go, but then I discovered that I had read the instructions incorrectly, and that instead of having until midnight of the 12th, I only had until 4 pm my time.\u00a0\u00a0I kind of gave up then.\u00a0\u00a0I even put my knitting down and didn\u2019t pick it back up for almost 2 weeks.<\/p>\n<p>Maybe it\u2019s a good thing that I put it down.\u00a0\u00a0When I picked it up again, I decided to see if I could get an extra section out of my yarn.\u00a0\u00a0With worry that I might run out, I knit an 8th section and started on the ruffle.\u00a0\u00a0Amazingly enough I got to the end and still have a little bit of yarn left.\u00a0\u00a0Now the shawl is cast off and just in need to a wash and block.\u00a0\u00a0Now where did I put those T-pins\u2026.?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I really did mean to keep up-to-date on posting during the Ravellenic Games, but we know what they say about good intentions.\u00a0\u00a0I had two projects to work on during the games, and I managed to complete one.
