{"id":624,"date":"2009-06-04T09:00:24","date_gmt":"2009-06-04T16:00:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/zardra.dimmet.net\/?p=624"},"modified":"2010-02-12T13:35:18","modified_gmt":"2010-02-12T20:35:18","slug":"getting-back-on-the-wagon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/zardra.dimmet.net\/?p=624","title":{"rendered":"Getting back on the wagon"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>So, I decided that if I was going to get back on the posting wagon, I should try to get back to the posting schedule I had set for myself before the insanity of graduate school dragged me away &#8212; Tuesdays and Thursdays, at the very least.<\/p>\n<p>The hard question is where to start.\u00a0 Things have happened in the last several months, but does anyone care now that they are done and gone.\u00a0 Doesn&#8217;t matter, you&#8217;re going to see some of it anyways.\u00a0 \ud83d\ude1b<\/p>\n<div style=\"float: left; margin-right: 10px; margin-bottom: 10px;\">\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/zardra\/3198671580\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft\" style=\"border: 2px solid black; margin-right: 10px;\" title=\"Snow in Ontario\" src=\"http:\/\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3346\/3198671580_8caa063c30_m.jpg\" alt=\"Snow in Ontario\" width=\"240\" height=\"180\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We went to Canada (Eastern Ontario to be precise) in December to visit family and get a chance to actually see Toronto.\u00a0  The last time we went to Toronto was August 2003.\u00a0  The few days we had set aside to do things like go to the ROM were a bust when the entire eastern seaboard was blacked out.\u00a0  Things aren&#8217;t open when there&#8217;s no power.\u00a0  We did take a tour of the islands in Lake Ontario cause it was one of the few things running, and it was cooler on the lake. I have a whole set from the visit at <a title=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/zardra\/sets\/72157612587406314\/\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/zardra\/sets\/72157612587406314\/\">http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/zardra\/sets\/72157612587406314\/<\/a>.\u00a0 I took lots of photos at the ROM of dinosaurs and statues.\u00a0 It was a lot of fun.<\/div>\n<p>It was kind of fun to see snow for the first time in over 10 years.\u00a0 I thought I was done with cold and snow when we moved out to CA, but being in it I realized it wasn&#8217;t as cold as I remembered it being, and I really miss seasons.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/zardra\/3477594221\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright\" style=\"border: 2px solid black; margin-left: 10px;\" title=\"Stitches West 2009\" src=\"http:\/\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3342\/3477594221_924b6461ec_m.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"240\" height=\"180\" \/><\/a>In February, there was, of course, Stitches West in Santa Clara.  I didn&#8217;t sign up for any classes this year, so it was just the market place for me.\u00a0 I tried to concentrate on things that I can&#8217;t usually find in the immediate area and also fibers that I haven&#8217;t worked with before.\u00a0 I got some madder dyed BFL, some plain targhee, and some merino silk laceweight in Chartreuse&#8217;s Sister from <a title=\"A Verb for Keeping Warm\" href=\"http:\/\/www.averbforkeepingwarm.com\/\"><\/a><a title=\"A Verb for Keeping Warm\" href=\"http:\/\/www.averbforkeepingwarm.com\/\">A Verb for Keeping Warm<\/a>.\u00a0 I got some gorgeous baby camel and silk roving from <a title=\"Red Fish Dye Works\" href=\"http:\/\/redfishdyeworks.com\/magento\/\">Red Fish Dye Works<\/a>.\u00a0 I got a huge thing of dyed BFL from <a title=\"Blue Moon Fiberr Arts\" href=\"http:\/\/www.bluemoonfiberarts.com\/newmoon\/\">Blue Moon Fiber Arts<\/a>.\u00a0 Picked up some blue dyed Wensleydale, some blue carded batts, and a skein of sock yarn from <a title=\"Lisa Souza\" href=\"http:\/\/www.lisaknit.com\/\">Lisa Souza<\/a>.\u00a0 Got a small ball of merino, silk and qiviut from <a title=\"Windy Valley Muskox\" href=\"http:\/\/www.windyvalleymuskox.net\/\">Windy Valley Muskox<\/a> that I think I&#8217;ll make into a cowl.\u00a0 A skein of MadelineTosh sock yarn in Kale from <a title=\"Webs\" href=\"http:\/\/www.yarn.com\">Webs<\/a>.\u00a0 And last, but not least, a skein of sock yarn in Opal from <a title=\"Abstract Fiber\" href=\"http:\/\/www.abstractfiber.com\/\">Abstract Fiber<\/a>.\u00a0 Rather amazed at the amount of fiber I was able to get for my budget this year, all of it wonderfully squooshy.<\/p>\n<p>La&#8217;s Boozer was a smash hit.\u00a0 Got to sit around drinking, knitting, and spinning with <a title=\"La\" href=\"http:\/\/lauramartos.wordpress.com\/\">La<\/a>, <a title=\"Didi\" href=\"http:\/\/knitwithit.wordpress.com\/\">Didi<\/a>, <a title=\"Michelle\" href=\"http:\/\/www.fickleknitter.com\/\">Michelle<\/a>, and <a title=\"Romi\" href=\"http:\/\/rosemarygoround.blogspot.com\/\">Rosemary<\/a> (and I&#8217;m sorry to say several other people who&#8217;s name I either didn&#8217;t catch or have completley forgotten by now cause I&#8217;m horrible with names). <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>So, I decided that if I was going to get back on the posting wagon, I should try to get back to the posting schedule I had set for myself before the insanity of graduate school dragged me away &#8212; &hellip; <a href=\"http:\/\/zardra.dimmet.net\/?p=624\">Continue reading <span class=\"meta-nav\">&rarr;<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[4,43,6],"tags":[249,238,89,248],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"http:\/\/zardra.dimmet.net\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/624"}],"collection":[{"href":"http:\/\/zardra.dimmet.net\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"http:\/\/zardra.dimmet.net\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/zardra.dimmet.net\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/zardra.dimmet.net\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=624"}],"version-history":[{"count":5,"href":"http:\/\/zardra.dimmet.net\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/624\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":630,"href":"http:\/\/zardra.dimmet.net\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/624\/revisions\/630"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"http:\/\/zardra.dimmet.net\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=624"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/zardra.dimmet.net\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=624"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/zardra.dimmet.net\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=624"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
